Often thought of as an easy bit of landscaping as I notice many new builds having yellow dying turf chucked on lumpy clay soil. Always makes us shake our heads in dispair. Like most most things in life you get what you pay for so it comes as no suprise that you can paying anything from £1.25m2 to >£5.50m2. Here at country landscapes we have several suppliers of turf and after many years experience can negotiate a good price for a good quality turf. The skills come in getting it flat and we can do that! Before
This lawn in Fulwood was weedy and had a central flower bed with Dahilias, Senacio, Hydrangea, spiraea and a host of bulbs.......a shame to remove them; that's what the customer wanted! After
With all the plants transplanted to gardens which could house them (all doing well).
This lawn looks healthy and matches well with the old lawn. Key features - Cost less than £500
- £2/m2 turf (Rye grass mixture to blend in with original lawn)
- No signs of old plants or weeds 18 months later and no weedkiller
- Customer satisfaction (Now a regular customer)
Hints and Tips If you are going to do it yourself and need help then phone any gardener or landscaper they should be happy to give free information but here are a few tips. Turf quality is important but so is it's care once laid. Many turf companies use chemicals to reduce weeds, enhance growth etc. Check this with the supplier as you may find you can not use most forms of lawn care for up to 18 months. A concoction of chemicals could do your lawn no good at all. Many weeds, Dandelion for one, are air-bourne pollinaters and never can a gardener say your lawn is now weed free. Also the seed bank in new and old soil can have a life expectancy of twenty years before they germinate. A lawn needs to be cared for; you can't paint a fence once and think it's going to look good in ten years time. You can get sterilised top soil but this often effects the natural chemicals in the soil like potassium and nitrogen, so be aware. Hope this helps; call or e-mail if you need help; that is what we are here for.
